Description
Precision 6W Stereo Audio Power Amplifier Module
The STK4102II is a specialized thick-film hybrid integrated circuit manufactured by Sanyo. Designed for split-rail power supplies, this module provides a consistent 6W + 6W stereo output. It is the primary replacement part for restoring high-quality audio in compact vintage stereos, active desktop monitors, and premium radio equipment from the 1980s and 90s.
As the foundation of the STK4102II series, it features a built-in muting circuit to suppress "pop" noise and an internal architecture designed for low harmonic distortion (0.4% THD), delivering the signature warm sound Sanyo modules are known for.
Key Technical Features:
- Continuous Power Output: 6W + 6W (at 8Ω, THD = 0.4%)
- Configuration: 2-Channel Stereo (18-Pin SIP Package).
- Pin Compatibility: Pin-compatible with the entire series up to 50W (STK4102II to STK4192II).
- Frequency Response: Full-range capability from 20Hz to 50kHz.
- Operating Voltage: Recommended ±13.2V (Absolute Maximum ±20.5V).
- Thermal Advantage: Guaranteed operation up to 125°C substrate temperature.
Installation & Thermal Management:
The STK4102II requires a heatsink and thermal grease for safe operation. Because the internal power transistors are bonded directly to the substrate, even a brief test without a heatsink can cause immediate and permanent damage. Ensure your power supply rails do not exceed the ±20.5V limit to prevent substrate breakdown.
Technician's Note: If you are looking for a slight power increase, this module can often be replaced by the STK4122II (15W) or STK4132II (20W), provided your equipment's power transformer can handle the additional current and voltage requirements.
