Description
Reliable 15W Stereo Audio Power Amplifier Module
The STK4121II is a classic thick-film hybrid integrated circuit manufactured by Sanyo. Designed for split-rail power supplies, this module provides a consistent 15W + 15W stereo output. It is the industry-standard replacement part for restoring audio in vintage compact systems, bookshelf stereos, and mid-range integrated amplifiers.
The "Series II" architecture features an improved internal constant current circuit that ensures low harmonic distortion (0.4% THD) and high thermal stability, providing the warm, musical characteristics Sanyo hybrid chips are known for.
Key Technical Features:
- Continuous Power Output: 15W + 15W (at 8Ω, THD = 0.4%)
- Configuration: 2-Channel Stereo (18-Pin SIP Package).
- Frequency Response: Full-range audio from 20Hz to 50kHz.
- Operating Voltage: Recommended ±20V (Absolute Maximum ±30V).
- Built-in Muting: Integrated circuitry to suppress power-on/off shock noise ("pops").
Installation & Thermal Management:
The STK4121II requires a dedicated heatsink and high-quality thermal grease for safe operation. Because the internal transistors are bonded directly to the substrate, operating the module without a heatsink—even for a brief functional test—will cause immediate and permanent internal failure.
Technician's Note: Before installing, verify that the power supply rails are symmetrical and do not exceed ±20V. Check the output emitter resistors for signs of overheating, as a short in the speaker terminals is the most common cause of the original chip's failure.
