Description
High-Performance 45W+45W Stereo Audio Power Amplifier Module
The STK4182II is a heavy-duty thick-film hybrid integrated circuit from Sanyo's trusted "Series II" line. Engineered to deliver a continuous 45 Watts per channel, this module was the preferred power stage for flagship stereo receivers, integrated Hi-Fi amplifiers, and high-output AV systems throughout the late 80s and 90s.
Designed for split-power supply configurations, the STK4182II features a built-in muting circuit to eliminate power-on "pop" noise, protecting your speakers while offering the rugged thermal reliability Sanyo hybrid chips are known for. It provides a balanced analog sound with a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of 0.4% at full rated power.
Key Technical Features:
- Continuous Power Output: 45W + 45W (at 8Ω, 20Hz to 20kHz, THD = 0.4%).
- Configuration: 2-Channel Stereo in a standard 18-Pin SIP (Single In-line Package).
- Thermal Stability: Optimized substrate designed for a maximum operating temperature of 125°C.
- Frequency Response: Full-range high-fidelity from 20Hz to 50kHz (+0, -3dB).
- Operating Voltage: Recommended supply of ±33.5V (Absolute Maximum ±50V).
- Pin Compatibility: Member of the STK4102II family (6W to 50W), allowing for modular repair and design.
Installation & Safety Guide:
As a 90W total output module, the STK4182II generates significant thermal energy. It must be securely mounted to a high-mass heatsink using premium thermal silicone grease. Operating this module without a heatsink—even for a five-second diagnostic check—will cause immediate and permanent internal substrate failure.
Technician's Note: Before installation, verify that the power supply rails are symmetrical and that all filter capacitors are fully discharged. Always check the output emitter resistors (typically 0.22Ω to 0.47Ω) for damage, as external speaker shorts are the most common cause of the original module's failure.
