Description
Premium 80W+80W High-Fidelity Stereo Amplifier Module
The STK4221V is a high-performance thick-film hybrid integrated circuit from Sanyo's prestigious "V" series. Engineered for those who demand clinical accuracy and high-output headroom, this module delivers a continuous 80 Watts per channel. The "V" series revision incorporates an advanced internal current mirror circuit that slashes Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) to just 0.08%.
This 22-pin module is a critical replacement for flagship vintage receivers and integrated stereo amplifiers from the 1990s. It provides a more transparent soundstage and significantly improved detail over the standard Series II variants, making it a favorite for audiophile restorations and high-end audio projects.
Key Technical Features:
- Continuous Power Output: 80W + 80W (at 8Ω, 20Hz to 20kHz, THD = 0.08%).
- High-Fidelity Performance: 0.08% THD for transparent, studio-quality sound.
- Built-in Muting: Integrated circuitry to suppress power-on/off "pop" noise and protect speakers.
- Frequency Response: Full-range high-bandwidth from 20Hz to 50kHz.
- Operating Voltage: Recommended supply of ±45V (Absolute Maximum ±65V).
- Pin Compatibility: Member of the STK4201V series; also pin-compatible with STK4201II and STK4141X series.
Installation & Thermal Management:
As a 160W total output module, the STK4221V generates significant thermal energy. It must be securely mounted to a large, high-mass heatsink using high-quality thermal silicone grease. Operating this module without a heatsink—even for a five-second functional test—will cause immediate and permanent internal substrate failure.
Technician's Note: Before installation, verify that the power supply rails are healthy (ideally ±45V) and discharge all filter capacitors. We recommend checking the 0.22Ω to 0.47Ω output emitter resistors, as these often fail if the original module has shorted out.
