Description

Vintage 5W+5W Stereo Audio Power Amplifier Module

The STK4332 is a compact thick-film hybrid integrated circuit from Sanyo’s classic audio lineup. Delivering a reliable 5 Watts per channel, this 15-pin module was a standard component in high-quality portable stereo systems (Boomboxes), tabletop radios, and compact televisions throughout the 1980s. It is highly sought after by restorers for its efficient design and clear analog sound.

Utilizing Sanyo’s Insulated Metal Substrate Technology (IMST), the STK4332 offers stable performance in a small, slim package. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of 1.0% at full power, it is the definitive replacement part for bringing small-scale vintage audio equipment back to its original factory performance.

Key Technical Features:

  • Continuous Power Output: 5W + 5W (at 8Ω, f = 1kHz, THD = 1.0%).
  • Configuration: 2-Channel Stereo in a standard 15-Pin SIP (Single In-line Package).
  • Low-Profile Design: Slim package height of 25.5mm for space-constrained enclosures.
  • Frequency Response: Full-range high-fidelity from 50Hz to 50kHz (+0, -3dB).
  • Thermal Durability: Guaranteed operation up to 125°C substrate temperature.
  • Recommended Supply Voltage: 23V DC (Maximum 32V).

Installation & Safety Guide:

Although the STK4332 is a low-power module, it still requires proper thermal management. It must be securely bolted to the internal metal chassis or a dedicated heatsink using high-quality thermal silicone grease. Operating this module without proper heatsinking—even for a brief diagnostic test—will lead to localized overheating and permanent internal failure.

Technician's Note: Before installing, verify that your power supply voltage is within the recommended 23V range. We strongly suggest checking the output coupling capacitors, as dried-out electrolytic caps in vintage boomboxes are a primary cause of module stress and audio distortion.
