Description

Reliable 10W+10W Stereo Audio Power Amplifier Module

The STK4362 is a classic thick-film hybrid integrated circuit from Sanyo. Delivering a continuous 10 Watts per channel, this 15-pin module was a centerpiece in the audio stages of high-quality tabletop radios, CRT televisions, and compact stereo systems throughout the 1980s and 90s. It is prized by restorers for its warm analog sound and compact, efficient design.

Built on Sanyo's Insulated Metal Substrate Technology (IMST), the STK4362 offers excellent thermal stability and requires very few external components. With a Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of just 1.0% at full power, it is the definitive replacement part for bringing vintage consumer electronics back to their original factory performance.

Key Technical Features:

  • Continuous Power Output: 10W + 10W (at 8Ω, f = 1kHz, THD = 1.0%).
  • Configuration: 2-Channel Stereo in a standard 15-Pin SIP (Single In-line Package).
  • Low Distortion: Typically 0.3% THD at 0.1W for clear, low-volume listening.
  • Frequency Response: Ultra-wide bandwidth from 20Hz to 100kHz (+0, -3dB).
  • Thermal Reliability: Guaranteed operation up to 125°C substrate temperature.
  • Recommended Supply Voltage: 33V DC (Maximum 50V).

Installation & Safety Guide:

While the STK4362 is a compact module, it generates heat during operation that must be dissipated. It must be securely bolted to a metal chassis or heatsink using high-quality thermal silicone grease. Operating this module without a proper heatsink—even for a five-second diagnostic test—will cause immediate and permanent internal substrate failure.

Technician's Note: Before installing the new STK4362, verify that your power supply voltage is stable and discharge all filter capacitors. We recommend checking the output coupling capacitors (typically 470μF to 1000μF), as dried-out electrolytic caps in vintage gear are the most common cause of module stress and audio distortion.
